WhatsApp Becomes More Group Call Friendly

WhatsApp makes group calls easier, but calls still limited to four peopleIf you want to enjoy a group call using WhatsApp, you will have to call one contact and then add up to two more to the call. There is no way to start a group call directly, at least that was the case before the new WhatsApp update. The new update has brought an added level of functionality to the calls that you can make. Now you can go to a group that you are a part of and simply tap on the call button on the top right corner of your screen.

Once you do this you will be taken to a new screen where you can select up to three group members who you want in the group call. You will also be able to select the voice or video option according to whatever type of call you are currently trying to make. The fact that you can make a group call in two simple taps is definitely a step up from the way these calls used to be made before.

Group calls don’t need to come from groups either. WhatsApp is also offering another way to start them. You can tap the call button and select the people from your contact list. This can help you call people that you might not be in WhatsApp groups with.

One glaring problem that still exists is the fact that WhatsApp only lets four people talk to each other on a WhatsApp call at a time. The service is lagging behind other service providers who offer a much higher limit to the number of people that you can add to a group call. WhatsApp will have to up its game even more to be on par with some of its competitors who offer a higher limit.
