Facebook's ranking as the best place to work takes a dive after 2018's controversies

Facebook's ranking drops in 'best places to work' listApparently, Facebook’s ranking has dropped from No.1 to No. 7 in the Glassdoor’s 2019 list of 100 best places to work in the US. The list that comes out every year is determined by employee feedback.

This year the top spot on the list goes to management consulting firm Bain & Company. Additionally, 29 tech companies made the list for 2019 including Google on No. 8 LinkedIn on No. 6, Microsoft on No. 34 and Apple on No. 71. HP (Hewlett-Packard) also debuted in the “best place to work” list on the 87th position.

The drop in Facebook’s ranking comes after the scandalous year the company experienced. Besides being part of election meddling, the company faced severe consequences in the Cambridge Analytica Scandal that compromised data of 87 million Facebook users.

Employees of the company also spoke regarding workplace issues that include racism. However, the company employees in an anonymous survey praised Facebook for its compensation and benefits giving it a 4.6 rating out of 5. Nevertheless, when it comes to work-life balance – Facebook was given a score of 3.8 by the workers who claimed that the company expected them to do tasks outside regular hours, nights, and weekends.

Current employees of the company are also rumored to be reaching out to former colleagues for jobs outside Facebook.
