WhatsApp’s Population Reaches 1.5 Billion

WhatsApp’s population has now raked up to 1.5 billion and it is now second only to Facebook in terms of user base. More than 60 billion messages are exchanged on WhatsApp every day. Moreover, the number of monthly WhatsApp users back in July 2017 were 1.3 billion while only 1 billion users were active on daily basis.

When Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion in 2014, people questioned Facebook's decision and they were right in a way as the platform had only 450 and 315 million active monthly and daily users respectively.

However, with the launch of latest WhatsApp for Business app, Facebook is upping its sleeve to seriously monetize WhatsApp. Additionally, the social giant is also looking to charge the business owners for surplus business and customer services.
