Google Search Adds Custom Price Alerts and Virtual Clothing Try-On

Google has introduced two new shopping tools in Search. One lets users set alerts for price drops, while, the other allows them to try on clothes using full-body photos.

Price Drop Alerts Now Allow Custom Limits

The price tracking option in Search now includes a slider that lets users set a specific amount. When a product reaches that price, an alert is sent. The feature appears after selecting a product listing. Users can choose color or size options before enabling alerts.

The earlier version of the tracker only notified users during major price changes. This update adds more control. Sponsored results at the top of the search page still lead directly to external product pages.

Try-On Tool Uses Full-Body Images

Google’s virtual try-on feature is now available to everyone in the U.S. It uses a photo uploaded by the user to show how an item of clothing might look when worn. This option appears in listings for clothing under the “Try it on” button. Users can save or share the previews.

The feature had been in limited testing. It was first shown earlier in the year. Google has also begun testing a separate app, called Doppl, that focuses on virtual try-ons.

AI Style Suggestions Coming in Fall

Later this year, Google plans to release a feature that creates visual suggestions based on written prompts. Users can type a description of clothing or home items. The system then generates a visual example and links to similar real products.

The new tools aim to make it easier to browse and compare items directly in Search.
