Pinterest Outshines Competitors with Visual Search, Leaving Google, Instagram and Facebook Behind

According to a new survey by Adobe Express, most consumers, especially Gen-Z, are using Pinterest instead of Google to search on interest. 4 in 10 Gen-Z use Pinterest’s visual search, which is about 39% of Gen-Z and 36% of overall consumers. It was also found that 24% of the business owners use Pinterest, while 39% of all users use Pinterest as a search engine. About a quarter of companies are also increasing their ad spend for Pinterest, with 80% of the businesses saying that they get more engagement on Pinterest than any other platform.

Many platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest are changing because of the changing search behaviors of users, especially Gen-Z and women. Even though Pinterest has some content moderation and AI-generated content issues, it still stands out amongst other apps because of its visual and user-friendly search experience and is popular for many things like fashion, cooking, DIY, and product searches. 73% of the users say that visual results on Pinterest make it better than regular search engines, with 61% saying that Pinterest gives them personalized results. Only 26% of the users said that they see low-quality or AI-generated content on Pinterest.

80% of the businesses say that Pinterest is better in consumer engagement, and it beats platforms like Instagram (35%), Facebook (49%), and Google Search (29%). 76% of the businesses, especially the small ones, say that they use Pinterest to drive website traffic, and 57% said that they use it to build brand awareness.

Standard image Pins are the most effective (61%), followed by Idea Pins (37%) and Video Pins (27%). Some of the challenges when it comes to Pinterest for most businesses is not having enough time for creating content (61%) and struggling with Pinterest SEO (50%).
