Meta Tests New Feature For Threads That Lets Users Follow the Same Creators as Their X Account

Meta is giving rise to a new feature on Threads that can help users connect and find creators on the app, similar to the ones they’re already following on X.

The company shared the news to media giant TechCrunch, which claims they’re currently experimenting with the feature to follow and find creators from different apps on Threads. This not only gives rise to greater connections but also gives access to the same people and chats that matter to them.

In recent times, we’ve seen so many creators leaving the X app for other competitive platforms. This includes Bluesky and Threads. However, this caused them to leave their huge following list along the way. So to help prevent that, Meta wants to engage in this new feature that can also help users create similar communities they made along the years for X. The latest offering is designed to make that shift simpler for creators and users who are setting up on the Threads app.

The offering is currently being tested in beta and was first spotted by former Meta worker Jane Manchun Wong. After logging into the Threads app yesterday, some people noticed a new alert that they could find popular creators from their X account. This pop-up takes people to the latest beta feature that gives instructions on how to install the following list from the X app and import them to Threads.

For now, it’s not clear how Meta can match creators from X to profiles seen on Threads. However, the tech giant has full faith that it would work out well, especially for creators who are popular, but not for everyone followed on X.

Whatever the case might be, we feel such offerings like this one are really assisting in making Threads the next best app to X. Did we mention its growth rate that remains steady? Remember, Meta did share at the year’s start how Threads now has more than 320M MAUs. This is up from the previous 300M MAU from December 2024. We agree that every app measures its monthly active users differently, but it appears that this platform is certainly a clear archrival for X.
