Blend on Instagram Reels Lets Users Discover Friends' Interests Through a Unified, Interactive Feed

It’s a feature that’s been in the works for nearly a year now, and we can confirm that Instagram has just rolled out its exciting Blend options for Reels.

The latest offering gives creators the chance to produce shared feeds for recommended Reels with contacts or a group chat. The end result is a Blend feed that’s sent out through DM invites. As shown in the description, the new Blend Feed will display a combined Reels feed, depending on every person’s suggested Reels. This way, each member can see which Reel was suggested for which person, depending on their in-app activity through Instagram. It’s like getting a taste of what others are interested in and what they interact with.

Instead of sending out Reels to every person, the Blend feed will display all of the Reels that you or your loved one would display individually, through the single stream. Other than that, you can say hello to a Blend feed that re-aligns to their collective likings, depending on future Reels they share in the group chat.

As shown in the previous image, the goal is to enable the most interactive engagements around common interests. It enables every user inside chats to see what their recommendations are at any given moment in time. In this manner, they could comment on stuff like saying, 'Wow, this is so relatable for you!'

When a chat member comments or reacts towards a Reel, that triggers an alert inside the chat and assists in sparking serious discussions. As a whole, Blend is designed to better share behavior, all depending on the increase in DM activity. It is also based on the Reels' popularity by making sharing so much simpler and formal as compared to going back and sharing some of your favorite Reels with those on your list.

That might work out well, experts feel. We see how it could give rise to greater collaborations. Still, at the moment, the trend is more related to forwarding important highlights to every person and not displaying others in a full stream of what is shown on the platform.

For instance, you might be seeing a huge number of interests impacting the app’s feed. You’ll see one close friend liking animals, while another is engaged in the best makeup trends, and a third adores fitness.

Through the latest Blend approach, Instagram is putting all of these in one place. Some do feel it lacks that fun and excitement linked to sharing certain trends. The whole ordeal is so much more engaging and allows users to produce and share like a little personal present.

This ensures everyone can see full streams at any point in time, and that just doesn’t feel personal and could produce fewer engagements. Whatever the case might be, we know it’s new, and users would be keen on the possibilities that arise through this.

To produce your personal Blend feed from a DM chat on the app, just click on Blend at the top of the conversation and invite participants.
