Meta Creeps Viewers Out With AI-Generated Profiles Overtaking the Facebook App

In case you haven’t noticed already, Facebook is no longer your go-to app for connectivity.

The app has transformed into a bizarre entity that has many people talking for all the wrong reasons. There’s so much misinformation, suggestions, and ads related to things you might have never imagined.

The end of fact checkers has made it even worse to see all types of content getting published and engagements on posts that certainly don’t deserve your time. Amid all of that we heard Meta share that it would soon be allowing AI-generated profiles to launch. And from what we can tell right now, it’s already happened.

Clearly, this is not the news that many of us had hoped for. Meta says you can also generate and share material that’s powered by AI on the app. And as you can imagine, not everyone’s reaction to this ordeal was the same.

People were disgusted by Meta’s behavior and the fact that it is now bombarding the platform instead of launching gradually, which has many questioning the motives. After all, who wants a social network filled with synthetic personalities?

The "AI slop" posts arrive with a bang and feature AI pictures of senior citizens that are as old as 120. They’re showing off birthday cakes they made by hand from scratch. Others have to do with talented individuals who fashion sculptures made from all types of materials like wood, vegetables, and ice.

There are happy pictures of people from decades ago comparing themselves to what they looked like before to what they are looking like right now. Much of these images are fake and are made using AI. However, some are hard to differentiate, but the main goal is linked to pulling at your heartstrings. They want users to engage, like, share the post or even click on them to get views.

Other than bombarding the feed with such posts from people that never requested them, Meta is trying hard to gather engagement through its AI bot. You’ll find one picture of a bearded individual that carved an entire crib for the grandson to stay in. The post sadly mentions that nobody liked it and therefore would be grateful if you can assist with some likes or shares.

The Chabot tries to roll out suggestions in terms of why nobody liked it, to make you intrigued and generate a never-ending feedback. There are also alarming figures for birthday wishes and compliments on artistic features.

Now the issue is if you click, or like, or comment, you’ll see more of such posts filling up your feed. That’s just how the Meta algorithm works so now you’re trapped as you made the algorithm think you enjoy such content.

The take-home message is Facebook will never be the same again. We are stuck in an era of AI with no group moderators taking charge. Zuckerberg’s mission to connect the world is still in question because if that’s how it’s supposed to be done, you can count me out!
