YouTube Enhances Communities Tab, Boosting Creator-Fan Interactions

YouTube is expanding its Communities feature that is similar in design to Discord. The latest offering will include a new dedicated space across different channels where creators get the chance to engage in more conversations.

The feature was first shared at the company’s Made on You event taking place last year. This is where the app mentioned how channel owners will be allowed to share and create posts. The goal is to assist in fostering diverse conversations and connections with fans.

The app is also giving creators the chance to enable this new feature across various channel pages. All they need to do is tap on the ‘Go To Community’ tab and switch that on. This gives them the chance to moderate and also have full power over what is being posted through Communities. Anyone causing any issues can also be removed with immediate effect, it mentioned.

For now, it’s only up for grabs on smartphones and YouTube shared how it hopes to rename the Community Tab as Posts to avoid any kind of confusion. The latter is where creators can share any announcements or updates linked to their accounts.

YouTube has been busy launching many new features for the past year. This entails an extensive list of collaborations where users can share separate playlists with friends and loved ones to incorporate suggestions.

There will similarly be a new Sleep Timer option for anyone dozing off while they watch content on the app. As per the video giant, another interesting feature worth mentioning is the adjustable mini-player. This gives rise to more multi-tasking options. So if a creator is engaged or busy, they can enable AI suggestions for comments for a swift reply.

Despite the massive competition taking place right now, the app says it had the greatest ratings for satisfaction out of any leading social media app, behind TikTok of course. It got the chance to pick up a satisfaction score high of 77 against TikTok’s 78. The fact that it managed to surpass X and Facebook is major news as they each scored 69.

YouTube has always been keenly interested in giving creators more ways to engage with viewers. The new Communities tab seems to be a great option as it takes on the success of Discord-like features.
