YouTube’s CEO wants the world to know that AI is a part of the company’s four biggest bets in 2025. The leading executive of the company, Neal Mohan shared in his annual letter that making investments in AI tools for creators is essential to achieve prosperity.
This is why the app is working on sharing more offerings based on AI including video ideas, translation, and thumbnails. The latter will launch to all creators in the app’s partner program this month. The company shared more about how the new AI feature will highlight the ages of users to offer more customization and appropriate material with recommendations.
In the past year, the app shared plenty of innovative creator offerings for producing pictures, video backgrounds, and music for short-form content. They hoped to include AI into the entire video creation endeavor but that did come with backlash. Many argued that the use of AI in videos will dilute its value on the app.
Sharing AI in videos gave rise to all types of content including some that were so poorly made. Many suggested how AI is a great tool to assist with video production but that does come with the cost as mentioned previously.
Critics feel that it can help creators reach more engagement and attract newer audiences. After all, it will assist with dubbing and enable creators can translate videos into different languages with little effort.
During the letter, the CEO shared how auto-dubbing can be up for grabs to so many people inside the app’s Partner Program during the latter part of the month. The firm also hoped it’s going to invest more in tools for better control and detect how the tech is used on its app. So we might soon see the expansion of Creative Artists Agency which is the app’s pilot program.
In this way, more people get access to tech where they can identify AI and manage the content made from this technology. Last year in Fall, we saw YouTube shed light on another new set of AI detection tools.
This would offer more protection to creators such as actors, athletes, and music stars. The goal was to stop others from impersonating them through AI and using the content to generate content. The app is also expanding the Content ID feature which identifies copyright-protected content inside videos and it can detect simulated faces made using AI technology. Similar mentions were made about using age verification to estimate the users’ age and ensure they are exposed to age-appropriate material only.
The news isn’t shocking as many apps have been using age verification for years such as Facebook and TikTok.
