HypeAuditor surveyed 620 Instagram influencers to know what they think about AI and using it for generating content.
According to the survey, 83% of the Instagram influencers use AI tools for content creation. AI tools help these influencers in image and video editing, automated captions, video enhancements and content planning. Influencers were also asked what purpose do they use AI tools for the most. 76% answered that they use them for content creation, 7% said they use it for analytics and performance while 6% used AI tools for audience engagement.
24% of the Instagram influencers said that they always use AI tools while 39% use them often. More than 60% respondents said that they rely on AI tools for one purpose or another, indicating that influencers are using AI tools to enhance their creativity and efficiency.
When asked what is their primary concern regarding AI, 31% of the influencers worry about the quality of the AI generated content. This shows that many influencers are worried that AI is going to make their content bad-quality which will be not liked by their followers. Ethical Considerations (22%) and copyright issues (20%) were also some of the factors concerning influencers.
45% of the influencers are also worried that AI generated content is going to make it harder for human influencers to stand out. 31% do not believe that while 24% were unsure. 64% of the Instagram influencers say that AI use will lead to content overload on social media platforms. This highlights a growing fear that AI is going to speed up content production making it harder for human influencers to stand out.
Only 13% of the respondents said that they are comfortable in making their digital clone using AI for brand promotions. 26% said they are somewhat comfortable while 17% were neutral. 18% of the influencers were very uncomfortable in making their digital clones using AI. When asked what is their biggest concern about brands using their digital clones for promotions, 33% respondents said that they will feel loss of control on how their image is used. 21% reported feeling potential damage to their personal brand and 18% responded with misuse of their digital image. 26% influencers said that they would allow brands to use their digital clones only if they will have full creative control over it. 27% said that they would never allow it to happen. Some were open to making their digital clones only if legal protections and usage limits.
42% of the Instagram influencers said that they think that AI-generated influencers will become popular in the future. 23% do not believe it at all while 35% were unsure. This shows that influencers are recognizing the capabilities of AI and see it becoming somewhat popular in their influencer space.
