Here Are the Biggest Updates Coming to Google Maps

Now that the summer season is here, Google is looking to kick its Maps service up a notch because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up capitalizing on the higher levels of usage that are usually seen in this time period. One of the new features that are coming in an upcoming update is that of glanceable directions, which was actually announced by Google back in February of 2023.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that this will allow users to check out directions without even having to unlock their phone screens. They will also see live ETAs based on the route that they are taking, although users will have to opt in if they want to take advantage of this new feature when the update is finally rolled out.

Desktop users will also notice that their recent destinations that they served will be compiled into a single shortcut. These locations will be organized so as to make them more useful than might have been the case otherwise, and this is just the first of many features that will be coming your way in the next Google Maps update.

The last feature might be the most intriguing one of all, since it will increase the presence of AI on the app. It revolves around Immersive View, and it turns out that Google will be adding another five hundred landmarks to it with all things having been considered and taken into account.

This will serve to provide users with more contextual clues regarding where they are. The presence of multiple angles may be extremely beneficial to those that are traveling or on vacation. A time slider is also being thrown into the mix, thereby allowing users to easily see what the weather will be like on any given day. Google Maps is a crucial tool for those that are looking to stay organized and plan ahead, and these updates will very likely boost its usefulness in that respect to a very high degree.
