68% of Americans Fear Catastrophic Climate Change in the Near Future

Climate change is one of the biggest problems the world is facing right now, and it turns out that nearly 7 out of 10 Americans believe that it will have a catastrophic impact over the course of their life, as per MyChinet survey. With 68% of Americans believing this, things are even more dire if you look exclusively at younger generations namely Gen Z and Millennials.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that 75% of Millennials feel that climate change will have a destructive impact during their lifetime, and a whopping 84% of Gen Z said the same. This information comes from a recent survey of US based adults, and it reveals a lot about the sorry state of affairs that we are currently finding ourselves in.

Furthermore, only 35% of the people that responded to this survey stated that they are as informed about environmentalism as they would like to be. 77% said that they would want to learn as much as possible, and new platforms should be set up to leave consumers more educated than might have been the case otherwise.

Around 30% of survey respondents indicated that large corporations have a bigger responsibility towards fighting climate change than individuals. 49% of Gen Z believe the same, so the new generation will definitely be putting pressure on corporations to do more with all things having been considered and taken into account.

71% of survey respondents also stated that they became more environmentally responsible as they grew older. If this trend applies to Gen Z as well, we might end up seeing a new generation that is far more environmentally conscious than any prior generation throughout human history.

48% of consumers have already stopped buying from brands that fail to provide a climate conscious vision. The pressure will get ever greater moving forward, and it will be interesting to see how corporations react to the new normal. If steps aren’t taken, they might find themselves without a consumer base that is willing to buy their products and services from them.
