WhatsApp Rolls Out New Unread Chat Filter For Its Desktop Beta Users

WhatsApp is undoubtedly one of the world’s most popular messaging platforms. It’s quick and convenient, giving us all the functionalities and flexibilities we need.

Hence, it’s no wonder why so many users around the globe are depending on the app in terms of reaching out to those that mean the most.

And as time passes by, we’re seeing more and more users appreciate the great versatility that it brings, catering to the needs and wants of its huge user base.

Remember, gone are the days when people looked at it as solely a place where you could reach out to others like today, it’s also busy managing so many business accounts too. And it wouldn’t be wrong to call it a default tool in the world of communication.

But with all the pros do come some cons related to how long it takes for the app to actually gain updates and make the most of its features. Moreover, we are still quite astonished because there are so many apps out there functioning on lower budgets. Yet. they’re doing a wonderful job at putting across packed updates on a more frequent basis.

Last month, we were surprised to see the launch of reactions to messages and it wouldn’t be wrong to say that it was something that was a long time coming. And today, we’re hearing of a new update in regards to a new filter chat that clears away messages that we’ve already seen.

This new chat filter is going to be for desktop beta users only for now and we are yet to be updated on whether or not it’s going to be a slow rollout for the masses or something that only will pertain to a chunk of users.

So, what can we expect in general? Well, users should be seeing the filter arise near the search option. And once you press on that, all of your read chats are hidden from view, keeping those that are unread at the center stage so you don’t miss out on anything.

You’ll also come across another feature that clears that particular filter and then restores the classic view in case there aren’t any unread chats.

Clearly, the change will be welcomed by those users who are bombarded by piles of text messages through their messaging app. However, there are calls for more variations to come into play with this filter as there’s plenty of room for improvement.
