WhatsApp is about to control the forwarded messages to even tighter restrictions

Meta-owned social media platform, WhatsApp is soon going to limit the number of forwarded messages up to a single chat group as reported by WABetainfo.

In today’s world, a lot of innocent people, particularly older users, become easily affected by false and fabricated news messages. They don’t even bother to check out the validity of the information being sent to them. And without giving it a thought for a second, they forward the rumors and risky content among their relatives and close circle. Earlier on, there were no restrictions so far. People often send a message to several chats at a time. However, 2 years back, amid the coronavirus pandemic, social media became a platform of misleading information. Soon after this, Governments and other regulatory authorities around the world requested WhatsApp and other social media app owners to restrict this trend of spreading rumors and incorrect news. Later, WhatsApp rolled out an update, according to which forwarded messages were limited to five chats at a time.

As you know, rumormongers spread spoof information like targeting an unknown person by spreading fake news of threats associated with that person. Similarly, misinformation related to robberies, fake virus outbreaks, or inaccurate sales or gifts propaganda is being offered by some company’s fake websites. To stop all this, recently WhatsApp tested a feature to restrict the forwarded messages to one chat group. Now, rumormongers find it hectic to send a piece of fake news to a larger extent. This update is available on WhatsApp beta version, still, it needs some time to be tighter leash in the future for the masses.

Moreover, I would like to share useful information about forwarded messages on WhatsApp with you. Do you wonder how many times your message gets forwarded? Or was it even forwarded at all? Simply, launch the app on your phone. Then, open a chat conversation. Select the text by long-pressing the screen. After that, forward a message to anyone. Select the text by long-pressing the screen. Meanwhile, tap on the message info icon which appears at the top of the screen. So, if the person forwards the message, it will show the number of forwards, and you’ll be aware of that information.
