Majority of Online Retailers Don’t Use AI to Optimize Search

AI is something that has been incorporated into virtually every aspect of our lives because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up things more efficient with all things having been considered and taken into account. However, even though AI is so useful from a lot of contexts, many companies are struggling to see the purpose of it which makes sense when you realize that tons of small businesses are still operating without even having made a website that can serve as home base for their customers.

AI can help make it so that search results can become more relevant to users, so it’s clearly something that needs to be used but 74% of retailers don’t seem to know that this is the case, reports Algolia. What’s more is that 79% of retailers said that they didn’t offer any kind of personalized recommendations on their sites which can result in them losing out in quite a lot of sales that they would have otherwise not have had to worry too much about.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that this creates a lot of potential for growth for certain retailers that want to be innovative. Using AI to optimize things and make them more efficient could give some retailers an enormous edge over others, and there are a lot of other things that can come from this too.

This goes to show that just because technology is undergoing a revolution does not necessarily mean that that revolution is being noted on the ground. It will take some time before AI adoption becomes widespread among retailers, and only the ones that do so earlier on will be able to last as the others would fail to keep up with them.
