Jane Manchun Wong discovered that the Facebook Messenger app for Android has started working on a screens share feature. She checked the unreleased feature by reverse-engineering the code.
A button appears on Video/Audio call screen through which Screen Share feature can be accessed. The feature is named “Share Your Screen Together” that let users share their content through video chat.
When a button is pressed to enable the screen share, the camera of the user is turned off, and people in a chat can instead see the screen only.
To enable the feature on Android devices, user will have to give Messenger app permission to capture the screen.
There is no definite time for the development and release of this feature. Also, several experimental features are tested, and not all are released. Therefore, it is yet to see whether Facebook roll out the screen share feature or will let go like many others.
