Apple Maps Gets A Makeover

When Apple Maps was introduced, users found it less detail-oriented, especially when compared to Google Maps. However, Apple realized its mistakes and is planning to make some changes to the new maps that will be launched alongside iOS 13.

At Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference, iOS lead Craig Federighi showcased the new Apple Maps that will have more detailed features. Additionally, the maps will have a better user interface and enhanced 3D viewing.

Other notable features of the revamped Maps include a binoculars “look around’ view that will allow users to get a street-level view of the map – similar to Google Street View. The self-driving Apple car that has been in the news lately will also be LiDar-equipped vehicles, part of the new Maps.

Moreover, users can set Favorites and create a Collection of their favorite hangouts that can be shared with friends too. The Apple Maps update will also come with an option to alert friends and family of the estimated time of arrival.

Federighi stated that the improved maps will also enhance the privacy protocols of its users.
