Websites Suffer From Massive Deterioration In Facebook Traffic

CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg announced In January that he would encourage posts from family and friends in the news feed and that there would be little content visible from the news agencies and websites to negate the concept of ‘fake news’ on social media.

Subsequently, the aforementioned move has brought down the traffic of websites which were earlier dependent on Facebook for clickbait.

As per the latest report shared by Shareaholic, websites have suffered massive decline in Facebook traffic in the second half of 2017. The following chart reveals that the website traffic coming from Facebook in the second half of 2017 is 18.2% in comparison to whopping 30.9% reported in the second half of 2016. The pivotal reason of this dip is the changes deployed by Facebook last year in the news feed section.
