Habits of the World’s Happiest People (Infographic)

What if you could train yourself to become one of the happiest people in the world? It is possible, though it is not without obstacles. Your circumstances do play a major role in your happiness, so if you are living in an area where there is famine or conflict it is obviously going to be more difficult. But as long as you are living somewhere where your basic needs are being met - you have access to food and clean water and a way to make a living - it is possible for you to train yourself to become a happier person.

The happiest man in the world, a Buddhist monk names Matthieu Ricard, meditates for at least 15 minutes a day on happy thoughts. He also regularly meditates on compassion, a crucial component to personal happiness.

But even if you don’t have your entire life to devote to the pursuit of happiness, you can still change a few things in your life to help you become happier overall. Try to be more mindful and live in the moment - nothing robs you of your happiness quite like seeing your friends doing stuff without you on social media. Put down your phone and enjoy whatever you are doing right now. Practice compassion - seeing others as fully human helps you to appreciate your own flaws. Be grateful for what you have and try to spend some time each day outside enjoying the sunlight.
