Meta’s Messenger Now Supports 100MB Files, Doubling Down on Creator and Gaming Engagement

Messenger just shared a handy update for users that includes raising the sharing limit to 100 MB. This would make it so much simpler to share video clips, especially if you plan to do so through the app’s DMs.

The previous limit stood at 25MB, and now seeing that jump to 100 MB is major news. Actually, it was 10 MB, but the app raised the threshold for a few to 25 MB in 2025. So as you can tell, the jump is massive.

Through the latest offering, users get the option to simply drag and attach bigger text, images, and video files inside DM chats. This will also include snippets taken from Word documents, Excel Sheets, and PDFs.

The app has the chance to link files on both desktop and mobile devices. They can also produce shared albums that entail HD presentations. The change is a useful and from what we can tell in the announcement, it’s mostly aimed at creators in the gaming industry. It is also allowing greater sharing activities inside the gaming community.

Now it might even have a great number of users for users through chats. A lot of people feel more secure about sharing personal files on the WhatsApp platform as it’s known for better safeguards. But a lot of that has to do with a bigger file size limit, which currently stands at 2 GB. Now, when you’ve got the Messenger communities engaging around certain topics, you get the chance to share bigger files in such chats as well, which proves to be a bigger benefit to the user.

We’re getting excited about the feature already as this could really switch things up for Meta and Messenger, drawing more attention to the app.
