Qualcomm’s New In Screen Fingerprint Scanner Could Be a Game Changer in Upcoming Smartphones

Fingerprint sensors were really revolutionary back when they were first released, but the thing that managed to take them to a whole new level in terms of notoriety and notability was when they started to be incorporated into smartphone screens themselves rather than just being an added feature that would be located below the screen. The company responsible for pushing fingerprint scanners to a new level is Qualcomm, and the latest offering from this company is going to help make things even more efficient in this regard.

Qualcomm is working on a new fingerprint scanner that would be larger as well as more efficient than previous iterations. Android phone manufacturers have been scrambling to find a way to improve touch ID with Apple vowing to bring it back in the next iteration of iPhone that they end up bringing out, and this is the sort of thing that is usually going to end up making things even more interesting for consumers as well as the various users that might be out there.

This new fingerprint scanner is being called the 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2, and it is going to be released in a smartphone sooner than you might think. It’s almost certain that the Samsung Galaxy S21, slated for release in the first half of 2021, is going to have this advanced fingerprint sensor.

This indicates that fingerprint sensing technology still has a lot that it can give to the various users that might be looking to take advantage of it. Qualcomm’s new sensor is larger yet it provides a great deal more usability as well, thereby showing that a lot can be gained from companies that refuse to stop innovating as the people that win out in the end are always going to be the consumers.

Which Smartphone or Manufacturer do you think will be the first to have this technology? Let us know in the comments.
