No big surprise there - survey after survey has revealed this to be the case ever since networks such as Twitter and Facebook first opened their windows, but how exactly it affects men and women differently.

The below infographic created by financesonline discusses male and female behavior on social media, e.g recent study shows that 13 percent of men use social media for dating in comparison to only 7 percent of women. While 70 percent of women, compared to only 18 percent of men, will follow or like a brand on social for deals.

So what other interesting stats did they find?

10 percent of more women than men play games on their smartphone device.
Women outnumber men in the top reason for using the number 1 social media, Facebook.
56 percent of men (and only 39 percent of women) scan QR codes for online deals.
